5 small things (Q1 2026) Finding joy in the slow life
Saturday, April 04, 2026
Hello my lovely readers, have you missed me? I have not updated for a long time in 2024 and 2025 due to many reasons. I was trying to go for an influencer lifestyle in the 2020-2022 period but that dream was faraway from me because I had chose to lie low and not reveal too much about my life to others. Perhaps 2026, my 35th sun year, would be different and I would pick up my blogging career once more.
There was a reason for my disappearance from the blogging sphere. I had felt over exposed and I was sensitive to the comments being posted about my content on Lemon8 and Tiktok. So much so that I deleted my TikTok and chose to start anew. There was also the trickiness with my mental condition and I was feeling so unwell in 2024-2025 that I had to take a break to rest. I will elaborate on a different post about my experience in IMH (the psych ward here in Singapore) in another post. But I wanted to do this little post as a wish for the rest of the year.
In January to March this year:
1. Finally slowed down to enjoy the days, even though I felt that there was sometimes a lack of things to do due to my digital detox. I stopped reading, watching movies and TV shows/anime because of how some of these properties were affecting my worldview and psyche. A simple show would consume me and affect my dreams at night. I wanted to slow down and "cleanse" my mind of pollutants and ruminate more.
2. I started writing letters/snail mail to M. I wanted to write a message to M every month of the year in 2026 to tell him how much he means to me. I dream of him every other month and it's always about our life together in the future. I gifted him a red string bracelet from the temple in Lingyinsi in China as a lucky charm. Life is slow and healing.
3. I spent a lot of time with my family. March was my birthday and my dad's as well. Chinese New Year was a riot but I was disappointed we didn't get to play party games. For my birthday, M. Ng took me to Milos at MBS for Greek food. My Mom and Dad also took me to Pangpang for crab pot (it's a Sri Lankan crab in braised soup with ricecakes, potatos and enoki mushrooms). J also celebrated with me at Genki Sushi! For Dad's birthday, Belle joined with her family and BJ and PY too. We had roast duck at Tunglok.
4. I started new blogs! I started one to talk about magickal topics with my practice with the occult (even though that has sort of taken a backseat) and also a blog like those I kept in JC for posterity's sake. It's fun to write so much. Sometimes, I get ideas like starting new blogs in my dreams. It's just amazing how they work some times.
5. I made new friends and reconnected with old ones. J, L, S and many more. Recently, I've been hanging out with J a lot because she's just 2 years in Singapore from HK and wants to meet new friends. We went to a lot of restaurants like Jiangbian Claypot in Northpoint, Mookata at Toa Payoh, donburi at Shaw Center! Lot's of good and cheap food. We also text daily about love, fashion and social media. But this year, I also lost a good friend. We used to text every day for 2 years but she had an outburst at me, treating me in an unfriendly way for way too long. But she was a special friend because I could feel her moods even when she was all the way in America. But I have nothing but love for her and wish her all the best.
In the end of April, I will be going to Shanghai for 2.5 weeks and I will share on my itinerary in a separate post! It includes Legoland, the 24h spa with caviar and more! I am so excited. We will also be going to an ancient town in Zhejiang called Lishui (as planned by my Mom).
