jhene aiko and eternal sunshine of the spotless mind

in the mood for some jhene aiko and discovered her new song:

[Verse 1]
Most of us are angry
Most of us are strangely
More alike than we'd like to believe
Most of us are empty
Most of us are simply
More alive in the scenes of our dreams
[Chorus]
Then there's you
You've got something I've been wanting, oooh
You're so new
Oooh
You're my salvage, you're my balance, oooh
You're so new
Most of us are hurting
Most of us are searching
Someone to love
Someone to understand
Most the time I'm fighting
Multiple voices residing
In my head
[Chorus]
Then there's you
You bring silence to my violent truth
Yes you do
Oooh
You're my salvage, you're my balance, oooh
You're so new
[Verse 3]
It hit me like a tidal wave
Knew that I was in love with you right away, yeah
Turned all my days into brighter days
Even when people say what we do is not okay
According to what the people say, yeah
Who cares what other people say?
Man fuck what other people say
I'ma ride for you
Baby, if you gon' ride for me
Cause I know, yes I know
That what we have is oh so real
And oh I feel so confident in
All you say
When you say
You'll never leave
You'll never leave
Please never leave
Yeah, I believe you
Yes, I do
[Verse 4]
Most of all I am thankful
You are just what I prayed for
You are what I was made for
Yes, I'm for sure
Most of all
I just want to mean the most to you
Most of all, baby, I'm just tryna grow with you
I just wanna go with you
Cause you bring so much hope to the picture
Some of us do find the one
To fall in love
And off of the
Fucking face of the Earth with
Some of us do deserve it
A love that's true and perfect
Some of us been through it all before
Some of us do still come back for more

This one's an oldie but still a goodie, accompanied me through many a reflective night:

[Verse 1]Is it strange for me to say that
If I were to die today
There's not a thing that I would change
I've lived well
Maybe I have made mistakes and been through my fair share of pain
But all in all, it's been okay, I've lived well
And the more that I see, the more that I know
I don't know anything, at all
Like the more that I breathe, and start to go slow
Of all the many things, I can only recall
[Hook]
All of the good things, good things
All of the good things, good things
Only the good, the good, the good
Only the good, the good, the good
All of the good things, good things
All of the good things, good things
Only the good, the good, the good
Only the good, the good, the good
[Verse 2]
Living on Sycamore street, and spending weekends on the beach
We were free, to be everything we dreamed
Flying kites and water fights
Summer nights, we'd ride our bikes
On Overhill, Ladara Heights
Man I swear
[Pre-Hook]
And the more that I see, the more that I know
I don't know anything, at all
Like the more that I breathe, and start to go slow
Of all the many things, I can only recall
[Hook]
All of the good things, good things
All of the good things, good things
Only the good, the good, the good
Only the good, the good, the good
All of the good things, good things
All of the good things, good things
Only the good, the good, the good
Only the good, the good, the good
All of the good things, good things
All of the good things, good things
Only the good, the good, the good
Only the good, the good, the good

according to genius this song was inspired by eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, which i caught for the 3rd time this weekend. not to spoil it (okay maybe spoiling it a little) but it's about a couple who breaks up and tries to erase each other from their memories through a memory-deleting service, only to meet again and fall in love for the 2nd time. it's really good, in an offbeat and nostalgic way.

this is one of my favourite scenes:

Been thinking about how i haven't written any poetry nor prose in a long time. blogspot has a way of making things super literal, while tumblr is the space where you write in a much more literary way. writing any poetry or prose here seems strange, although i haven't been feeling the creativity flow like it used to. not particularly inspired recently. i think i haven't written a poem in at least a year and a half? i wonder if i've left my emo days behind me - those were particularly conducive for writing actually, so maybe that's a blessing.

Adventure to the Balkans Travelogue Pt. 1: Zagreb, Croatia

Hola at you readers! It's me, Sasha Bear here - and today we're FINALLY going to post about my trip to the Balkans circa Octo...

Quote I Love

“To love. To be loved. To never forget your own insignificance. To never get used to the unspeakable violence and the vulgar disparity of life around you. To seek joy in the saddest places. To pursue beauty to its lair. To never simplify what is complicated or complicate what is simple. To respect strength, never power. Above all, to watch. To try and understand. To never look away. And never, never to forget.”
